Install Wayseer.
One program with every source built in, and the library that opens the window. Nothing else to install, no account, no server.
- Install the package for your platform: Linux, macOS or Windows.
- Get the demo world: a config file and a dozen CSV files describing a made-up company of 400 hosts and 120 services. pre-release: the demo world is not yet bundled with the packages
- Open it on the demo:
wayseer --config demo/config.yaml. - Then 1–8 or the bar across the top switch lenses, click an entity to focus it, Ctrl+K finds anything, F1 hides the hints, Shift+F1 shows the tour, Ctrl+Q quits.
- Your own systems: run
wayseerwith no flags. It writes a default config, with every option described in comments, and opens on this machine. Add a Prometheus, Kubernetes, SQL or file source and save (Kubernetes and SQL need a license key): the app reloads the config while it runs. Secrets are named, never stored: a file, an environment variable or the system keyring.
| Linux | AppImage or tarball, x86-64. About 19 MB. The primary platform. |
|---|---|
| macOS 13+ | One app for Apple silicon and Intel. About 38 MB. untested on a Mac so far |
| Windows 10/11 | An installer or a portable zip, x86-64. About 20 MB. untested on Windows so far |
| Free | Files, this machine, Prometheus with Alertmanager, Wayseer's own health, in one window. |
|---|---|
| With a key | Kubernetes and SQL, more than one window, control, MCP and the language model. Pricing, and how keys work. |
Any distribution since 2020.
Debian 11, Ubuntu 20.04, Fedora 32 and everything since. Each package brings its own copy of SDL3, the library that opens the window and draws, so the machine needs only what a desktop already has: a Vulkan driver (Mesa, or your GPU vendor's) and the Wayland or X11 libraries.
| AppImage | One file to download and run, with nothing installed and no menu entry. |
|---|---|
| Tarball | Wayseer in your application menu, under ~/.local or /opt. |
AppImage
chmod +x wayseer-*-x86_64.AppImage
./wayseer-*-x86_64.AppImage
It mounts itself with FUSE, which most desktops have (the fuse3 package). Without it, add --appimage-extract-and-run. Flags go after the file name.
Tarball
tar -xzf wayseer-*-linux-x86_64.tar.gz -C ~/.local --strip-components=1
It is laid out like /usr, so it unpacks straight into a prefix: wayseer lands in ~/.local/bin, with a menu entry and its icon. To remove it, delete ~/.local/bin/wayseer, ~/.local/lib/wayseer/, and the wayseer files under ~/.local/share.
Drag it to Applications. untested on a Mac so far
- Open the zip. Finder unpacks
Wayseer.appbeside it. - Drag
Wayseer.appinto Applications, and open it from there or Launchpad.
It needs no permission from System Settings to show this Mac: its CPUs, memory, filesystems, network interfaces and processes. To remove it, drag it to the Bin; its config and state stay in ~/Library/Application Support/Wayseer/ until you delete that too.
The first time it opens
Until the app is signed with a Developer ID, macOS asks once before it opens.
| macOS 15+ | Open it, choose Done, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway beside Wayseer. |
|---|---|
| macOS 13, 14 | Control-click the app in Finder, choose Open, then Open again. |
From Terminal
/Applications/Wayseer.app/Contents/MacOS/wayseer --config my.yaml
Installed for everyone, or run from a folder. untested on Windows so far
| Installer | The .msi installs into C:\Program Files\Wayseer\ and adds Wayseer to the Start menu, with an administrator's approval. A newer installer replaces the older version. Remove it in Settings → Apps. |
|---|---|
| Portable zip | Extract it anywhere and open wayseer.exe. Keep the files together: it finds SDL3.dll beside it. Remove it by deleting the folder. |
The machine module, which shows the host Wayseer runs on, is Linux and macOS only for now, so on Windows a first run opens on Wayseer's own health and the tour.
The first time it opens
Until the packages carry a code-signing certificate, Windows shows Windows protected your PC once. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
From a terminal
& "C:\Program Files\Wayseer\wayseer.exe" --help
It opens no console of its own, so the prompt comes back at once and its output follows.
What it asks of the machine.
| Graphics | A Vulkan, Metal or Direct3D driver. Designed for a well-performing integrated GPU (Intel Xe or AMD RDNA class); a discrete GPU is never required. effects: low for weaker chips. |
|---|---|
| Memory | Aims to stay under memory_limit, default 1280 MiB, which holds about 250,000 entities with their history. |
| Network | None required. It talks to the sources your config names, and once a day fetches a public, signed list of withdrawn modules and new releases, the same file for everyone, sent with no identifier; your config can turn that off. It sends no telemetry, and checks a license key without a network. |
| Start | The first frame in about 50 ms on the reference laptop, about 100 ms in power-saving mode. |
Where files live
Where each platform keeps its own apps' files. wayseer --help shows the full paths on your machine.
| Config | Linux~/.config/wayseer/macOS~/Library/Application Support/Wayseer/Windows%APPDATA%\Wayseer\ |

| State | Linux~/.local/state/wayseer/macOS~/Library/Application Support/Wayseer/Windows%LOCALAPPDATA%\Wayseer\ |

State holds bookmarks, the sources you turned off, and a license key once you add one. The logs record every question asked of a language model and every action run.
